Fly

Scott Whitby, 2020

What does a fly think

Or does it?

Buzzing around

Nobody loves it

Doesn't hurt anything

Just flies and lands

But you can't ignore it

Or catch it with your hands

Hated by all

Especially in food

All it wants

Is to make a brood

But if it gets distracted

And sits a bit too long

The swatter splats it

But is it now really gone?

Or does it lay and wonder

With its organs all mixed

What the Hell just happened

While I was so transfixed?
