When was the last time I picked you up

Scott Whitby, 2024 for Steph

That picture in the bedroom

When your dress was blue

Made me wonder

When I last held you

You grew up so fast

and I didn't see

You'd make the world your own

Get big and leave

I wondered again when

I last held you

I wish I'd known before

I sat you down

I'd held you longer and

Kissed your face

Then sat and cried

And felt the weight

Of a mom who did

All I could

If I could do it better

Hope you know I would!

But you are gone now

I hope you know

You are God's big plan

The world's your own

And when you have yours

And before they are grown

Hold them as tight

Like I wish I'd known
