Scott Whitby, 2021

First memories

Rocked in a chair

Still got that old rocker

Nobody cares

Hot road under bare feet

Don't step in the tar

No lines on the road

Had to walk so far

3 wheel mower

For a 2 acre yard

No need to complain

Everyone worked hard

Hoe the garden after supper

Shell peas til bedtime

When we slept hungry

It wasn't a crime

Church on Sunday

Didn't know what to believe

The news or the Catholics

Except from Hell.... no reprieve

Cotton fields, rows a mile long

Clean the weeds from between

Leave the cotton behind

To me it was all green

This is a song from back then

You might think back and grin

And act like it was good

When you made all your friends

This is a song from back then

You might think back and grin

You can act like you would

You couldn't do it again
